“It is always a great accomplishment for our young people to complete high school and obtain a high school diploma. It is a greater accomplishment when young people acquire a college education and obtain a college degree. This is such a blessing to endure the necessary challenges of a tough curriculum to where you have to study hard, but the end results is a gratification you cannot describe or put into words. To hold in your hand a document which can aid and assist you in gaining access to places you have never ever been before. But, don’t forget this book right here. The diploma is much like The Bible I hold in my hand. By studying the curriculum of The Bible, It will aid and assist you to gain access to places you have never ever been before. You have inside of here a curriculum that’s not so tough; all you have to do is follow the words of Christ and your life will follow the fantastic voyage and not a bad voyage. The end results should be one of gratification you cannot describe or put into words. I know your parents are proud of you, but there is a Man who is also proud of you. He is a Parent who sits high and is looking down on you. He has blessed you to get to where you are today. Don’t forget where He’s brought you from. Don’t forget to help the less fortunate. Don’t let obtaining a diploma change who you once were. Sometimes we get on these executive level jobs and make executive level money and get executive level titles and we get so high that we can’t come back down. Then others become less and less important and all that matters in life is your job title, your job, your office, your name on your office door, your employees who you boss, your high class community, your high class house, your luxurious automobile, the expensive clothes and shoes that you wear, your fine jewelry in your ear lobe, on your neck and on your fingers and other private places on your body, your tattoos and your many Boos and your high society lifestyle. I don’t know about you, but I know my God sits high and He looks low. Don’t let your college diploma make you so high that you can’t look low. Let’s not forget God on our journey toward success.”
The congregation is standing on their feet roaring and cheering. The organist is ripping chords on the organ. Some are saying Amen, others are jumping in place praising God and others are attesting to the sermon. It is wild right about now. The preacher waits until all calms down and he makes another announcement.
“Miss Charmaine Geoffrey will bless us with a solo. Instead of the choir singing, Miss Geoffrey will bless us with two song selections.”
There is a sigh from our little section of the church. We are all in shock that Charmaine can even sing. We stand and applaud her as she comes forward to stand in front of the microphone. Everyone is already pumped from the sermon, but when Charmaine starts to sing, the church breaks loose in shouting and praise dancing and speaking in tongue and crying.
Charmaine starts her two gospel song selections. The powerful songs are written by Tillie. Charmaine tilts her head back and starts to sing.
